YCP Demands Action Against Atchannaidu

The opposition YSR Congress Party on Wednesday demanded the dismissal of Kinjarapu Atchannaidu after he allegedly made remarks targeting the Legislative Council Chairman, K. Moshenu Raju, based on religion.

Leader of Opposition in the Council, Botsa Satyanarayana, along with senior leaders Merugu Nagarjuna and TJR Sudhakar Babu, strongly condemned the incident, calling it a dark day for democracy. In a joint statement issued in Tadepalli, they said the developments in the Council represented an attack on democratic values and parliamentary traditions.

The leaders accused ministers and members of the Telugu Desam Party of humiliating the Chairman and disrespecting a person holding a constitutional position. They said targeting him on the basis of caste or religion violated the dignity and culture of legislative institutions.

The YSRCP alleged that the incident occurred under the direction of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and claimed Atchannaidu’s remarks were deliberate. They also expressed concern that the incident happened in the presence of Minister Nara Lokesh.
