Story:
Jay, also known as Mrityunjay (Sree Vishnu), works for a newspaper called Swechcha, collecting obituary advertisements. Though he performs his job sincerely, his real ambition is to join the Crime Bureau. However, his lack of field experience prevents him from getting that opportunity. One day, while collecting an obituary advertisement, Jay senses that something about the death seems unusual. His curiosity leads him to investigate further, gradually drawing him into the path of a powerful and dangerous individual. What unfolds next forms the central narrative of the film.
Performances:
Sree Vishnu, known for his comedic roles, steps into a completely different space with this crime thriller. He delivers a convincing, restrained performance, successfully conveying the character’s seriousness. His effort to bring depth to Jay’s determination to uncover the truth behind a mysterious death stands out. Veer Aryan makes a strong impression as the antagonist. The character is written as a smart, calculating villain, and his performance complements that characterization. Reba Monica John appears as a police officer and performs her role effectively. Her presence becomes more impactful toward the climax, especially during the action moments. The rest of the cast made their presence felt.
Technical Aspects:
Kaala Bhairava’s background score is one of the film’s major strengths. His music heightens the suspense and elevates the tension in several key scenes. Vidya Sagar’s cinematography effectively supports the story’s dark, investigative tone. The production values are decent and suit the genre. Director Shree Hussain Shah Kiran handles the psychological cat-and-mouse dynamic between the protagonist and antagonist quite well, particularly in the latter half of the film.

Final Review:
Mrityunjay works as a decent crime thriller with a strong second half. Sree Vishnu impresses by stepping out of his comfort zone and delivering a solid performance in a serious role. Veer Aryan’s villainous presence and the intellectual duel between the two characters add intrigue to the narrative. Reba Monica John also contributes effectively to the film. However, the slow and less engaging first half slightly reduces the overall impact. For audiences who enjoy crime thrillers, the film is worth watching at least once. Overall, the film could have been much better.
