Sumanth Yarlagadda- a well-known hero in the Telugu circuit is in the search of decent hit from the past few years. Well, he even tried the ‘Sperm Donor’ subject in his previous outing and somehow he failed in that attempt as well. Now, he came back to the love story (Malli Raava) genre which is almost a trademark genre for the Akkineni clan. Now, we will see how far he managed to cross the success line with this flick.

Story:

The film opens with the scene where Anjali (Aakanksha Singh) says no to the marriage with Karthik (Sumanth) who is waiting for her along with his family to get hitched at the registrar office. The reason behind her sudden refusal and why she was taken that decision at the last minute is the story.

Roles & Performances:

Sumanth as Karthik: Sumanth is in this business for more than a decade and a half and we can say he mastered in portraying the lover & love failure roles with so much ease. He easily pulled off this role without any hitches.

Aakanksha Singh as Anjali Srirangam: She is the new beauty in the T-town. She gave her best for the role and she mostly got the emotional scenes in the flick where she needs to be subtle.

The kids who played the roles of Karthik, Anjali & their friend Dumbo need a special mention. Their performances are the key driving forces us to involve in the film. Fortunately, they did their best in their roles.

Mirchi Kiran as Sumanth’s Manager: He is the entertainment in the film and he definitely makes everyone laugh to their core.

Analysis:

Boy meeting girl in school and their relationship turning into love and their relationship was broken as their parents separating them. After a long gap, they both meet each other and finally get together. This is the age-old love story formula in the regular films and almost this story is very much similar to the regular formula.

Well, here comes Gowtham Tinnanuri – writer-director for this Malli Raava with his kind of screenplay to this routine story. He tried his best to showcase the new pattern of the screenplay with this film by introducing the flashy screenplay (scenes jump from one period of time to another). Actually, this gives a fresh feel to the common subject and with this kind, there is a huge chance of disturbing the audience concentration frequently.

In writing part, he did a good job with his dialogues and they were heart touching when it comes to the breakup scenes. He even wrote the entertainment part in the backdrops of Software office and school very well. The second half wins more hearts as compared to first half. The ending given to this story was like a novel ending and it separates the thought process of Gowtham from the routine filmmakers.

Technical Aspects:

Music is the main asset for the film and most importantly no song disturbs the flow of the film. Shravan who gave the Music & BGM needs to be applauded for this and Krishnakanth gave the soulful lyrics to the heart touching tunes. Cinematography by Satish was commendable and he gave his best while capturing the drone shots in the Rajole.

Plus Points:

+ Cast & Crew
+ Songs & BGM
+ Emotions worked very well

Minus Points:

– Length in the first half

Final Verdict:

Malli Raava– A must watch for lovers & love failures (if they want to recall their memories). Others can opt it to watch a feel-good love story.
