Story:
Trinath (Ravi Teja) leads a happy life with his wife Kaveri (Priya Bhavani Shankar) and daughter Manikantha (Baby Nakshatra). However, Trinath is unable to stay away from alcohol. The only time he gives up drinking is when he wears the Ayyappa mala. At the same time, he sees his own daughter in every girl in his village. Against this backdrop, a series of dramatic events leads to the murder of a high-school girl. How did the girl die? How did Manikantha (Baby Nakshatra) come to know about the problems faced by her friend Gayatri? Why did the alcohol-addicted Trinath promise his daughter that he would never drink again? What exactly is happening at the school? How does Trinath stop the injustices taking place there? And what does Trinath do as a father to protect his daughter? The rest of the story answers these questions.
Performances:
Ravi Teja impresses in a different role as a devoted Ayyappa Swamy follower. His performance in the emotional sequences is the film’s biggest highlight. The movie moves forward with a mix of action and emotional elements. Ravi Teja mesmerizes the audience with his powerful performance, bringing different shades and variations to his character. Priya Bhavani Shankar performs very well in the role of Trinath’s wife. Her performance in an emotional scene in the second half is particularly impressive. Swasika Vijay also makes an impact. Baby Nakshatra delivers a very good performance as Trinath’s daughter, and her screen presence is impressive as well. Sai Kumar and Ajay Ghosh, who appear in key roles, also make an impression. The rest of the cast performs well in their respective roles.
Technical Aspects:
Coming to the technical aspects, cinematographer Vishnu Sharma’s work is excellent. He has captured the important sequences as well as the action scenes effectively, in tune with the story and screenplay. The editing is also good. The songs composed by music director GV Prakash Kumar are quite good, and their picturization is equally impressive. The background score also works well. Shiva Nirvana does complete justice to the film both as a writer and director. He has crafted the movie in an engaging manner with a good story and strong, diverse characters. Producers Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar have backed the film without compromising on production quality, and the production values are excellent.
Review:
Although the film is set against the backdrop of Ayyappa devotees, the way the makers have blended the father-daughter emotional bond into a commercial format works well. The action sequences in the pre-climax and climax are among the film’s biggest highlights. Ravi Teja’s performance in these sequences stands out. The characters and their backgrounds have also been designed well, keeping in mind the circumstances surrounding the Ayyappa mala. Although this action-emotional entertainer, packed with strong emotions, is largely engaging, some scenes in terms of the screenplay do not live up to the overall standard of the film. The movie also fails to maintain the same level of hype and intensity throughout. The track involving Sai Kumar and the MLA could have been handled better. However, a few scenes feel slow. Still, Ravi Teja and the rest of the cast elevate the film with their performances, while the technical team’s work takes it to another level. Overall, Irumudi is likely to entertain not only Ravi Teja’s fans but also audiences across different sections.
