Story:
Chandra Sekhar (Shivaji), a government teacher from Vanaparthy, Telangana, and his wife Shobharani (Vasuki) have a younger son, Aditya (Anand Deverakonda), who is obsessed with making movies and becoming a director. Frustrated and on the advice of well-wishers, they send Aditya to the UK to study and gain financial stability. After sending him away with high hopes, the life of the very gentle and innocent Aditya takes a turn when Kadali (Vaishnavi Chaitanya) enters his life. Did Aditya achieve his goal? What is the reason behind Kadali entering his life? Will Aditya choose his personal happiness or stand by his family? This forms the core of the story.
Performances:
Anand Deverakonda delivers a strong performance as a good boy. He brings instant fun through his innocence and does full justice to Aditya. Vaishnavi performs well, balancing her acting and glamour presentation effectively, and her chemistry with Anand works nicely. The scenes featuring Shivaji and Vasuki stand out as a major strength of the film, as both actors bring emotional depth to their parent roles. The rest of the cast made their presence felt. The film has a smaller cast, and it mainly runs on the lead pair.
Technical Aspects:
Hesham Abdul Wahab’s music and songs are a major plus, saving and elevating the film in many places. The cameraman captures pleasant and decent visuals of beautiful UK locations. However, Naveen Nooli’s editing needed sharper cuts to trim lagging scenes.
Director Aditya Haasan includes a few decent emotional and deep scenes, though the main narrative needed much better handling. The film is technically good.
Review:
Anand Deverakonda’s solid, innocent acting paired well with Vaishnavi Chaitanya. The family sequences involving Shivaji and Vasuki, along with the emotional climax block, are good. Hesham Abdul Wahab’s soulful songs and background score are nice. The romantic track and narrative involving the lead pair feel directionless, routine, and at times confusing. The middle portions drag significantly, stretching the story before it reaches a predictable climax. Overall, “Epic” has its moments, featuring a few good family emotional scenes, comedy, and strong performances from the lead pair. However, a dragging screenplay and a confusing lead romance hold the movie back. While parts of it are engaging, the overall impact remains limited.
