Ustaad Bhagat Singh, directed by Harish Shankar and starring Pawan Kalyan alongside Sreeleela and Raashi Khanna, was released on Ugadi with considerable hype. Positioned as a mass entertainer with strong fan expectations, the film aims to recreate the magic of their earlier collaborations. Check out the review of the movie below.

Story:

Chinnayya is an orphan raised and educated by a kind-hearted teacher, Chandrashekhar Rao. As he grows up, he becomes ACP Ustaad Bhagat Singh, a fierce and upright police officer. As he takes on a dangerous mission, he faces off against a ruthless terrorist and a power-hungry political figure aiming for the Chief Minister’s seat. Amid this conflict, two women—Leela and Shloka—play key roles in shaping his journey. The story unfolds around how Bhagat Singh confronts these threats and restores order. What happens in the end? turns out to be interesting.

Performances:

Pawan Kalyan delivers an energetic and commanding performance, especially in mass and action sequences that cater directly to his fan base. His screen presence and vintage callbacks stand out as major highlights. Raashi Khanna performs well in the first half with a balanced role, while Sreeleela shines more in the latter portions. R. Parthiban fits into the antagonist’s role within its scope, though his character could have been more impactful. K. S. Ravikumar lends solid support, and the rest of the cast performs adequately in their respective roles.

Technical Aspects:

The film boasts strong production values backed by Mythri Movie Makers, with well-executed set designs and location choices. The music by Devi Sri Prasad works well in songs, though his absence in the background score is felt. Thaman S provides a functional but unremarkable score. Cinematography by Ayananka Bose is decent, and editing by Karthika Srinivas is serviceable. Director Harish Shankar handles the film with intent, particularly excelling in the second half with mass-oriented moments, though the storytelling could have been tighter and more engaging overall.

Plus Points:

Pawan Kalyan’s energy
BGM
Dialogues
Few action blocks

Minus Points:

Lack of Freshness
Screenplay

Review:

Ustaad Bhagat Singh offers a decent commercial package aimed primarily at fans and mass audiences. While it delivers enjoyable moments, energetic performances, and some engaging sequences, the routine storyline and uneven narration hold it back from being a standout entertainer. If you go in with moderate expectations, it works as a passable mass film with a few high points.
