After the exit of Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy from Congress, the election heat is back in the state of Telangana. While Rajagopal Reddy is likely to be contesting Munugode by-election as BJP candidate, Congress has now finalized its candidate after a lot of internal discussions. The AICC on Friday released a press note stating Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi has approved the candidature of Palvai Sravanthi as its MLA candidate for the forthcoming by-poll in Munugode.
Noticing that further delay in candidate’s announcement would impact winning chances for the party, Congress high command was quick enough to declare their candidate this time. A press note signed by AICC General Secretary Incharge Mukul Wasnik was issued and it is likely to end the confusion among party sympathisers.

Sravanthi is daughter of late Congress leader Palvai Govardhan Reddy, who represented the Munugode assembly constituency for 5 times in assembly since 1967 and he was later elected as Rajya Sabha MP from United AP.
Now that both TRS and Congress are ready with their candidates, TRS boss K Chandrasekhar Rao is keenly watching and is expected to select a suitable candidate shortly. As per speculations, Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy may be fielded as TRS candidate but a section of the party is strongly opposing his candidature. For now, it remains to be seen what KCR has in his plans.
