Starring young hero Sundeep Kishan and heroine Faria Abdullah, Sigma marks Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut. Generating buzz amid curiosity about Thalapathy Vijay’s son’s directorial debut, the movie was released in both Tamil and Telugu. Let us look at the review to see how the film fared.

Story:

Guru (Sundeep Kishan), based in Vizag, runs a home library his mother deeply cherishes. However, he faces immense pressure to quickly clear a one-crore debt left behind by his father. Meanwhile, he accidentally learns about a dangerous drug called Caesar, operated by Vincent. Holding solid proof to shut down Vincent’s business, Guru blackmails him for money. Unbeknownst to Guru, international smuggler Kotlapati Venkata Reddy (Sampath Raj) controls the entire operation from above. Does Guru finally get the money? Does he get crushed by the villains, or does he clear his father’s debt? This forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Sundeep Kishan trusts director Jason Sanjay’s vision and delivers what he’s asked for. His hard work and dedication show throughout the film, and he looks great in the action sequences. Heroine Faria Abdullah gets very limited screen space and is confined to a few scenes, doing okay with what she has. Sampath Raj gets more screen time as the villain and plays his part well in his own style. The comedy actors tried to evoke some laughs. The film has a mix of Telugu and Tamil cast. The other actors made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:

Sigma’s production values are quite average. The Telugu dubbing and visual effects (VFX) work feel weak. Thaman’s music fails to make a strong impact, and the editing is poor. The camera work is decent, too. Jason Sanjay comes with certain expectations, but unfortunately, his work fails to impress. Choosing a routine plot, his writing and direction fall short, showing that he needs more seasoning as a filmmaker.

Review:

At first glance, the film looks weak and outdated. Sigma ends up as a boring action treat. Hero Sundeep Kishan puts in his best effort, and his sincerity and hard work show on screen. However, major weaknesses in Jason Sanjay’s story and screenplay weigh the film down. While the lead actor tries his best, the direction ultimately disappoints. The lead actor shows complete dedication, hard work, and strong screen presence in action sequences. But the clichéd, uninspired storyline, paired with a dull opening and a lack of narrative drive, drags it down. The film also lacks major emotional depth, and it even lacks genuine reaction, making it feel artificial.
